Commitment

1

The size of the bonito

In spring, young 2-3kg first-catch bonito; in autumn, richly fatty 4-5kg returning bonito, carefully selected by season.

2

Raw bonito from Kochi

Most Kochi bonito is pole-and-line caught, leaving it beautiful and undamaged. We ship our select bonito direct from the port.

3

Straw from Shiga

We use straw hand-cut ourselves from vast contracted fields in Shiga. Dried straw burns hot with the finest smoky aroma.

4

The grilling

Over straw flames reaching 1000 degrees, we sear a crust about 5mm into the flesh, then finish with residual heat to lock in flavor.

5

The thickness of the cut

Cut over 1cm thick so the straw aroma fills your mouth, brimming with bonito flavor and a springy texture.

6

Our chosen salt

A fully sun-dried salt handmade by artisans from Kochi seawater. We select larger crystals for a mellow mineral taste.

How to enjoy Robata

Robata Story

01

Head for the counter where the straw burns

One to two minutes from the east exit of Minami-Kusatsu Station, at Liberty Minami-Kusatsu 2F. From the counter seats facing the straw grill you can watch the bonito wrapped in flame.

02

Start with the medium, one slice at a time

Straw-grilled bonito starts at 1,490 yen for the medium, about two portions. Take the first slice unseasoned and taste the smoke held in the surface.

03

With the large, change as you go

Work through the condiments, rock salt and citrus. The large, about four portions at 2,480 yen, gives you enough to keep shifting the flavor to the last piece.

04

Smoke, drink, and lose track of time

All 45 seats allow smoking, and guests under 20 cannot enter. We suggest Shiga sake, dry through sweet, to sit alongside the straw-grilled plates.

Minakusatsu Seafood: Smart Ways to Choose a Private Room

Do you want to savor delicious seafood in Minakusatsu but are unsure which restaurant to choose? Especially for meals with loved ones or special banquets, it's not just the food but also the ambiance that matters. While a lively atmosphere is great, sometimes you crave a private space where you can converse without worrying about your surroundings.

Our restaurant offers various types of private rooms so you can enjoy Minakusatsu seafood to your heart's content. We'll provide specific tips for choosing the optimal private room for your purpose and occasion, ensuring you have the best possible time. If you're planning a casual gathering or banquet around Minakusatsu Station, please use this article as a guide to create a memorable day.

Minakusatsu Seafood in a Private Room: The First Step to Choosing by Purpose

The most important thing when choosing a private room is to clarify the purpose of the day. Private rooms come in various forms, from quiet spaces for small groups to spacious rooms where large parties can enjoy themselves. By considering in advance what kind of occasion you want to use it for, both restaurant and private room selection will be significantly smoother, leading to a day without regrets.

The Charm of Private Rooms for Intimate Gatherings

  • For intimate and calm atmospheres such as anniversaries or birthdays with your partner, small family celebrations, conversations with close friends, or important business hospitality, we recommend a fully private room for 2-4 people. Away from the surrounding hustle and bustle, a space where you can focus on conversation, whether just two of you or a small group, will further enhance the flavor of the food and foster deep bonds.
  • Our pride lies in exquisite dishes that allow you to savor the inherent deliciousness of the ingredients, such as Kochi Bonito Straw-Grilled Tataki and Assorted Sashimi beautifully arranged with seasonal seafood caught fresh that day. In a tranquil private room, slowly raising a glass while fully enjoying the fragrant aroma of straw-grilled bonito and the umami of fresh seafood is truly the essence of dining pleasure and a luxurious way to spend your time. It is precisely because of this private space that you can deeply appreciate the craftsmanship in each dish and our commitment to the ingredients.

Private Rooms Suitable for Casual Gatherings and Dining at Minakusatsu Station

  • For casual occasions where you want to enjoy conversation freely, such as a Minakusatsu Station gathering with colleagues or a meal with close friends, semi-private rooms or slightly larger private rooms are convenient. Even if not completely enclosed, partitions of appropriate height ensure privacy, allowing you to converse and laugh lively without worrying about your surroundings.
  • You can feel the lively atmosphere of the restaurant while still thoroughly enjoying your group's conversation. Such a balanced space is ideal for casual use. Gather around fresh Minakusatsu seafood dishes, heal the fatigue of the day, and rejuvenate for tomorrow. The time woven with delicious food and pleasant conversation will surely be invaluable to you. Please also try our seasonal seafood dishes and our ingeniously crafted creative cuisine.

As a first step, let's begin by concretely visualizing who you're with, for what purpose, and in what atmosphere you want to spend your time. This will be a sure path to the best private dining experience.

Ensure a Successful Minakusatsu Banquet! Smart Strategies for Large Private Rooms

For large-group Minakusatsu banquets such as year-end parties, New Year's parties, farewell/welcome parties, or reunions, choosing a private room where all participants can comfortably and fully enjoy themselves is key to success. Our restaurant offers spacious private rooms that can accommodate up to approximately 40 people, making them suitable for banquets of various sizes. Especially for large banquets, the choice of private room can significantly alter the atmosphere and satisfaction level of the event.

Spacious Environments Fostering Unity and Interaction

  • In large banquets, it is crucial for all participants to share the same space and feel a sense of unity. Our large private rooms are spacious, allowing everyone to see each other's faces and enjoy conversations, whether for department gatherings, club celebrations, or community events.
  • Horikotatsu (sunken floor) and zashiki (tatami room) style private rooms allow for a relaxed atmosphere, naturally encouraging conversation. Furthermore, the easily movable layout makes it simple to change seats and mingle, fostering lively communication even with those you don't usually get to talk to. Engaging in exciting conversations about topics you don't usually discuss while enjoying exquisite Omi Beef and fresh Minakusatsu seafood dishes is one of the true pleasures of a banquet. Delicious food will further shorten the distance between participants.

A Must-See for Organizers! Comprehensive Facilities and Support System

  • Depending on the nature of the banquet, you might need visual presentations with a projector, greetings with a microphone, or background music. To flexibly meet such requests, please inform us in advance of any necessary equipment, and we will guide you to the optimal private room and assist you meticulously from the planning stage to the day of the event.
  • For the organizer, a smooth progression is the greatest joy and a sign of success. Our staff is dedicated to assisting you wholeheartedly, from preliminary discussions to detailed support on the day of the event, so you can plan and execute your banquet with peace of mind. Of course, we also offer carefully selected Minakusatsu seafood dishes and a wide range of drinks suitable for various occasions, so please rest assured.

A Comfortable Space for Both Smokers and Non-Smokers

  • In banquets where smokers and non-smokers are present, the availability of a smoking area is a crucial point. Some of our private rooms are equipped with adjoining smoking rooms, allowing smokers to use them without hesitation. This provides an environment where everyone can spend their time comfortably without having to leave their seats significantly to smoke. Non-smokers can also concentrate on delicious food and conversation without worrying about smoke, ensuring a banquet that all participants can truly enjoy. Please inform us if you prefer a private room with an adjoining smoking room when making your reservation.

The Ultimate Luxury: Savoring Kochi Bonito Straw-Grilled Tataki in a Private Room

Our signature dish, Kochi Bonito Straw-Grilled Tataki, highly praised by many customers, is an exquisite delicacy where its savory aroma and umami are concentrated. Savoring this special dish leisurely in the private space of a private room is truly the ultimate blissful experience. With one bite, you will surely be moved by the straw's aroma and the bonito's umami spreading in your mouth.

The Joy of Exclusively Enjoying the Five-Senses-Stimulating Aroma of Straw-Grilled Tataki

  • Straw grilling quickly cooks the bonito at high temperatures, transferring the straw's aroma and creating a unique flavor. While enjoying this aroma in a lively open dining area is pleasant, savoring it in a private room allows you to feel its scent even more deeply and appreciate it with all five senses. The quiet and calm atmosphere of a private room is ideal for concentrating on the dish and thoroughly enjoying its delicate aroma and taste.
  • Enjoying the umami and aroma of bonito slowly, without worrying about other guests, is a luxurious experience only possible in a private room. Among Minakusatsu seafood dishes, this straw-grilled bonito, in particular, with its rich aroma stemming from its cooking method, is well worth savoring in a special space. Please enjoy the freshly grilled, piping hot straw-grilled bonito at your own pace, to your heart's content.

The Supreme Mariage with Assorted Sashimi

  • Our Assorted Sashimi, with fresh seafood carefully selected by skilled artisans and beautifully presented, is another menu item we encourage you to savor slowly in a private room. The delicate flavors of seasonal seafood and the unique textures of each fish truly shine in a calm setting. Beautiful to the eye and blissful to the palate, our Assorted Sashimi, enjoyed with all five senses, will surely enhance your conversation.
  • By combining Kochi Bonito Straw-Grilled Tataki with Assorted Sashimi, you can fully and multi-dimensionally enjoy the deliciousness of the ocean's bounty. Immerse yourself in the charm of seafood to your heart's content, accompanied by your favorite drinks such as sake, shochu, or wine. In the calm atmosphere unique to a private room, thoroughly savor the depth of flavor in each dish and the freshness of the ingredients.

Enjoy Minakusatsu Seafood in a Private Room! Practical Steps for a Regret-Free Experience

We will introduce the process for using a private room and specific steps to ensure a more satisfying experience. By following these points, we believe we can deliver an experience that exceeds your expectations.

Step 1: Clarify the Occasion and Number of Participants

  1. First, concretely visualize who you will be dining with and for what purpose. (e.g., family birthday, casual Minakusatsu Station gathering with friends, important business entertainment, farewell/welcome party, etc.) The more specific this image, the smoother your restaurant and private room selection will be.
  2. Next, determine the number of participants. The type and size of available private rooms will vary greatly depending on whether it's a small group (2-4 people), a medium group (5-10 people), or a large group (11-40 people). Knowing the exact number allows us to guide you to an appropriate private room where you can comfortably relax.

Step 2: Consider Your Preferred Private Room Type and Size

  • For small groups (2-4 people): We recommend a fully private room for calm conversation or a semi-private room for a moderate sense of openness. These are ideal for occasions prioritizing privacy, such as anniversaries or business entertainment.
  • For medium groups (5-10 people): We offer spacious private rooms where you can chat without worrying about your surroundings. These provide a congenial atmosphere for meals with colleagues or gatherings with close friends.
  • For large groups (11-40 people): Spacious horikotatsu-style private rooms or zashiki private rooms are ideal. They create a unified Minakusatsu banquet where everyone can relax and enjoy the space.
  • If there are smokers: Please specify at the time of reservation if you desire a private room with an adjoining smoking room or the availability of a smoking space close to your seats. This allows us to arrange an environment where everyone can spend their time comfortably.

Step 3: Choose Your Food and Drink Course

  • Decide on your desired main dishes, such as whether you want to focus on our proud Kochi Bonito Straw-Grilled Tataki and carefully selected seasonal Assorted Sashimi, or if you also wish to enjoy Shiga's renowned Omi Beef.
  • If you have preferences regarding all-you-can-drink options or specific types of beverages like sake, shochu, or wine, please also communicate them when booking. We will propose the optimal plan tailored to your tastes.

Step 4: Advance Reservation and Communication of Special Requests

  • Private rooms tend to fill up quickly, especially on weekends, holidays, and during event seasons, so booking as early as possible is crucial. We recommend making your reservation with ample time.
  • When booking, please don't hesitate to inform us as specifically as possible about your purpose (birthday, business entertainment, farewell/welcome party, etc.), any participant allergies, desires for surprise presentations, requests for celebratory message plates, and any other special requests. We strive to provide hospitality that exceeds your imagination.

Step 5: Enjoy the Day to Your Heart's Content

  • In your reserved private room, please enjoy delicious Minakusatsu seafood dishes and an unforgettable, wonderful time. Should you have any questions or additional requests on the day, please feel free to speak with our staff. We prioritize your satisfaction and will provide meticulous service.

Summary: Creating the Best Memories with Minakusatsu Seafood and Private Rooms

Savoring Minakusatsu seafood dishes in a private room goes beyond merely dining; it holds the value of deepening bonds with loved ones and creating lasting memories. The time spent conversing freely in a private space and relishing delicious food will surely enrich your heart.
